Removing the "Mustache" ??

I've done fiberglass work before. It's not very difficult or expensive. It is however, messy and very time consuming. I will take a crack at it if I can find a used bumper for <$100.

Try my idea? I really wanna see how it will come out in real life.

Anyone else seeing that the front wheels are larger than the rear?
So weird to me. I'd definitely love to have that bumper/chin spoiler though.

Before someone invests in something stupid, or thinks a big payday is coming:
If you design/get someone to manufacture these for you, I don't think I'd pay more than $300 for it, maybe $370 with the chin spoiler.
(Whole fascia replacement)

You can't even get the 3d Carbon front Air dam for less than $200 unpainted, good luck finding a full front clip for what you can get a painted air dam for.

While I like your idea, its a little more extensive than I'm willing to take on. I'm gonna focus on getting the grill divider bar straight-lined, and possibly get the lower grill recessed in about 2 inches.

Maybe we can ask D.p to shop your idea?

I don't imagine it being that extensive. Then again I've never done anything like this so I wouldn't know.

This is what I'm imagining for the front bumper. You could cut out that inch or two sliver all the way across the top of that lip. Then cut a straight line down the middle where the bowtie is and cut out however much is needed to make it sit flush when you push back the bumper.

Again this is all speculation from someone with no experience in this area. Does this sound feasible?

Sorry not trying to play it down. Just describing my idea. Anyways if somebody was able to do this right I think it would look really good, especially with my bumper painted how it is.

Seeing as that is a custom front end, I really doubt it. If you put the pic in photoshop and ligthen it, there doesn't appear to be any black bar underneath the grill. Why would a company make a new front end for the Sonic, complete with the grill and then put the black bar under it? That doesn't make any sense. I think you're seeing things.

I wouldn't mind if the grille was at the same level as the mustache as long as the stache wasn't so prominent!

Right, but grill in front of that would look better than a fat piece of ugly plastic.

I agree and that appears to be exactly what Preloader posted. That's why you can still see the bar (painted black) deep in the fascia.

You can't just cover the black bar of the grill over with..... grill.
Let me rephrase that. YOU can. I can't, it will look like you tried to cover a turd with febreeze.

Look at all the pics of design rides' Sonic. Opticon points out that the bumper support bar. It was painted black to disguise it. They did NOT just cover the grill bar.

Maybe I'm misreading what the discussion is here. I don't believe we've been talking about removing the crash beam. Although I'd love to swiss cheese some weight off it.

Plan on doing this when I get my car back from the body shop. I'm the biggest procrastinator ever though, so we'll see.

1) Remove entire grill. Top and bottom. Dremel is on standby.
2) Cut steel mesh to fit.
3) Make steel mesh fit. Rubber mallet is on standby.
4) Figure out how to attach it to the bumper.
5) Swear. A lot.
6) Enjoy the not mustache.
