RS mileage

The EPA's site lists the RS mileage as 27/37 with a manual. Is this correct? Most of what I find online says GM hasn't released the numbers yet, but they are on the EPA's site. I assume this is the RS because there is another M6 1.4 that's 29/40 as well. Any thoughts?

Not sure what site you're looking at but fueleconomy.gov doesn't have a rating for the RS yet. And no, it will not have the same rating as a non-RS turbo. It has different front fascias and is lower, which will impact its fuel economy.

Sounds about right with the gear change in the RS's transmission.

It is on the fueleconomy site but you need to use the upper left click downs to get it: 27 city 31 combined 37 highway.

I was thinking about an RS because I like the appearance stuff and the interior upgrades, but the main reason for this car is fuel economy. All I plan to do is mess with the tune for fun and tweak the suspension. So I probably should stick wtih the LTZ. I should see if I can order an RS without the transmission.

Something to note would be that EPA testing is not the same as real world driving. You may get less, get more, or the same as what the EPA numbers suggest. I would suggest waiting to see fuelly numbers once people buy the RS.

I agree but if the tests were performed the same way I figure it would be a baseline for comparison. I guess if the tests are performed in less-than-optimal rpm ranges it may skew results though.

It's very easy to achieve better than EPA numbers in the sonic turbo. If the RS EPA avg is 31, you should be able to hit 35 easy.

When I picked up this LTZ the average MPG read in the high 30's. Since I've had it it never went over 25.

Motor Trend est: 28city/39hwy Manual Trans

Motor Trend did a review and they estimated that due to the closer geared transmission, the fuel mileage would be 28 city/39 highway for the manual.

I'm curious to know what the window sticker will say for both the auto and the manual (for comparison purposes against the LS/LT/LTZ).

Seems accurate to me. I'm getting exactly in the 28's with combined city and highway driving for my auto rs.

Picked up my RS with 41 on the clock, the dealership filled it for me upon delivery.

First tank 27.912
Second tank 30.581

DIC said 27.8 and 30.4

Got about 150 miles left on this tank and am at 31.4

Bad part about tracking my fuel mileage is I get to see the price increases in fuel.

1/25/13 3.039 for 91
1/26/13 3.239 for 91

20 cent jump overnight.... I know they didnt run out of gas over night and have to refill the underground tanks with gas that was 20 cents more expensive per gallon

I've had my RS for almost 2 weeks now. With the close ratio gears in the trans. I'm only getting 28-30 mpg. I've put three full tanks thru it now and drive 20+ miles to and from work every day. 70 mph at 3000 rpm's. Not the best but still better than the 12-14 mpg I was getting in my truck.
