Very shortly after getting the car, I installed the Trifecta tune. I actually purchased the tune before purchasing the car, but I drove it a little before the tune actually arrived. However, I did not drive it enough to answer this question:
My car had a little quirk; whenever I would accelerate fairly hard from a standing stop, it would sort of hesitate. I'd get some power and get rolling, then power would drop, enough to push me forward in my seat a little, then come back up, and of course due to turbo, would build and Build and BUILD.
I found it a little annoying (and frankly a little scary when pulling across traffic since it felt a lot like a stall) but I got used to it, and I thought it was just a feature of the car. My first Turbo, so maybe that, or maybe something to do with the hill start feature or who knew what.
I swapped to VT's tune as part of getting the VT turbo upgrade. The issue (which I didn't think of as an issue) persisted.
Recently, I switched to Bad News Racing's EFI live tune (which uses the same equipment as VT's) and the issue vanished. Gone. I cannot tell you how much better the car is, how much more pleasant to drive. I can't believe I drove it with that hesitation for 3 years.
In other news, VT told me that the system topped out at 212 ft.lbs torque due to valve float. They even sold me a set of valve springs and told me that there was more power they were leaving on the table, couldn't get it without replacing the springs. But that job was simply bigger than I could do myself, and even my regular mechanics were intimidated by it. We planned to get together some Sunday to work on it as a special project, but it would have to be when I didn't really need the car, and there were other issues that had to be cleared up first so... maybe February.
Meantime, I swapped to the BNR tune, and what do you know, I'm now seeing what looks like 240 hp and 250 ft lbs torque... and there may be still more available. I checked, and the springs are still sitting on a shelf, not installed.
