Tinted the Tails

Looks great but if you get rear ended you are at fault, well atleast in Nevada you are at fault and it not just a assumption two of my buddies both got screwed over when they got rear ended the cops said that there tail lights were modified to where it made the brightness to dim to see

Well hopefully the cops in your area aren't like the ones we have in Vegas, I got hit in a round about in my 337 and the cop out here told me that I was at fault because I was young and he assumed I was speeding since I had a huge !!! Intercooler mounted under my bumper, I was going 15 and the lady said she was going 35 through the round about and when I asked the cop why isn't she in trouble if she just admitted she was speeding and this a-hole cop said oh there's no way she was going that fast when she hit you !! Exactly she hit me !!!!!

did you pull the wiring back into the trunk? i just set mine inside the trunk from the outside and closed it i didnt feel like fishing them back through

what are you guys using to tint? the VHF or Rustoleam spray?

My buddies paint shop was fixing a black 2012 Tahoe so he threw mine in !!! Looks even better in person

I left my wiring on the tail light itself and they masked up everything except the red

Yeah I like the all black look my gmc had satin tail lights with satin 26 inch wheels but these cops out here would pull me over constantly

Hey sonic where is your buddies shop in Vegas? I think that would look pretty slick on mine? Any idea what he'd charge?

Sunset and eastern area, it's in park 2000 it will cost 50 bucks and be done in one day well more like 8 hours ( 7 of those hours are dry time ) he is a good painter and uses quality material

If you look really close at your tail lights and feel where the red meets the clear there is a line and that's where he tapes is right on that line, for 50 bucks it's well worth it just for you to go out and buy sand paper, a good quality paint in a rattle can and the tape to do it you will be in it 15 bucks, plus if you haven't spent the last 30 years of your life prepping and tapping then it may not come out that nice

so i titled the tails on the car today. Used some VHT Niteshades, with perfect match clear coat.

Very nice. Like how they look. a little too dark for my taste. but i want to ask you, how hard was it to remove the tail lights so to be able to spray them off the vehicle? I plan on doing some tinting on my tails here in a couple weeks. I used VHT Nightshades on my 06 Dakotas Tails when i had it, They were more of a Black Cherry look. so i know how to do that part. any help is appreciated man.

For reference to what i was saying in my last post about my experience with nightshades. This is a before and after look of a pair of 06 Dodge Dakota Tails Tinted with 2 light coats of VHT Nightshades. I will likely go slightly darker with the Sonic Tails. As long as the weather plays right i will be doing this during the week of the 17th sometime. Gotta love vacations

PS:: I no longer have this truck as i traded it in along with my sunfire i had to buy my sonic. I had a blast in both vehicles but they had to go. I needed something with much better gas mileage and reliability. The Dakota was getting me roughly 10-12mpg in the city. Yes, terrible. The Sunfire was getting me around 20-22mpg in the city. I couldnt stay out of the gas pedal or it would have been more lol. oh well...
