Don't know about ads, but there is a significant mpg difference between the naturally aspirated 1.8 and the turbocharged 1.4, about 5mpg less for the 1.8 I believe.

i thought the only difference between the turbo and nonturbo models was the torque...as advertised it had the same mpg and HP.
I don't like the look of the hatch, looks like some kid's car to me. I also don't like having my passengers sitting with 3 inches of cushion, glass, and steel protecting them from the jackass tailgating me. I like having a trunk where I can lock my firearms and other valuables in. I can't wait for my Silver Ice Metallic 1LT Turbo 6MT sedan to arrive from the factory.
When you are parallel parking or backing up a hatchback, you know exactly where your car ends
he was full of pride, and proclaimed to his wife "The ole Swedish pick-up is packing a load!"
She took this to be a cleverly worded euphemism for his being sexually aroused... and he decided to go with that, showing her the fridge in the car a bit later.
LOL, Man, I wish my wife thought like that!
I agree with you leaky. To one's preference and needs. The way I look at it, $1080 more in my pocket.
I am no kid and preferred the sedan over the hatch. More of the younger people are buying the hatch.
Unfortunately, I am still waiting for my car to arrive at the dealer. I ordered it on 11/3/2011. It was shipped 1/5/2012 so it should be any day now. Inferno Orange Metallic, 1LTZ sedan, 1.4 turbo 6 speed manual. I decided to go with the turbo because I never had one before and it offers slightly more power (better mpg as well).
I also do have some kid left in me. I may be older (48), but I am not that old.
After sleeping on the idea of getting a sedan for practical reasons (privacy/security of trunk, $1000, and wind noise); I realize I'm still conflicted.
While the sedan offers practicality, hatchbacks simply have more character!
It is a hard call whether that character is worth forfeiting the practicalities over!
I'll probably have to get them both side by side on the lot to make the call and if I still don't have a strong preference, I'll just go with what is available (or wait for my ordered hatch).
Here is what cinched it for me. A sedan made me feel like I was in my dad's car.
This cracks me up, since a hatch reminds me of a station wagon that's been cut in half. I just don't see where anyone would consider a station wagon "sporty".
