Hoping to stay on target to be installed by September.

The manifold will have the flange pointing down. But the orientation of the comp outlet will be pointing straight forward in that position. The only way to "clock" the comp housing to point the outlet down, is to replace the WG actuator with an aftermarket actuator that mounts to the CHRA instead of the comp housing.

Just had a check-in with Dave on the turbo progress.

He has the mani cut and installed on his Sonic for flange alignment. Also he is having an extruded core intercooler sized for a Sonic application soon.

And he will be doing a Test & Tune of the entire swap on his Sonic, so it will be plug and play when I receive it.:D Plus in the process he will be designing a plug/play kit more suited for the turbo swap crowd that wants to maximize on the stock internals.

Once I have my bottom end built up, I should be able to take my new set-up safely into 300whp:cool:.

But for those looking for a more practical turbo kit.... Good news is approaching fast, and 200-220whp will quickly become the new earmark for 1.4T builders.:banana:

When all is said and done, I believe DDMW will have a all inclusive Turbo Upgrade Stage kit that can be installed in one spirited afternoon.

As consumed as I am about my build target.... I am surprisingly excited about the kit being designed for the rest that have more rational goals. Lets face it, ppl love to express their dreams, but not many will commit to a short block rebuild.

The mid-power stock engine turbo kit will be a much better "get to the point" upgrade option for power seekers. And since it will include almost every bolt-on that modders are piecing together already, it will be a much better starting point for builders with big goals.

Many of us have easily spent the equivalent in just bolt-ons already only to hit the stock turbo wall. No fault of our own, and it's been a fun journey, but it's high time that we had an an all included option to graduate to the next level with one sizable purchase.

I did my share in my experimental days. This has to be the closest visual interpretation of what LSD was like for me..... Bad-ass song too.:cool:

I'm 100% sober these days, but I did 5+ years of "hard" time. Other than my brain's peaky power curve on endorphin release (manic highs and lows of enjoyment levels) I'm glad I turned out OK.

Hobbylife is the strongest anti-drug.:D
