Would this actually work???

I guess what I'm trying to do is use one of the V-band kits with the 1.4 downpipe......would that work??

I think i measured it wrong cuz all the search results for the 1.6 is 2.5 for the downpipe....so maybe the 1.4's could work.....

Im gonna have at least 2-3 inches to play with. And im going to heat wrap the downpipe as well

The Vauxhall guys have put 450hp through the same M32 trans will little modification or issues.
The hard part will be making 300 with only 1364cc. I've been crunching numbers for turbo selection and it seems that 300 horsepower would require 30-ish psi boost and revs up to 7k. I'm more worried about the bottom-end holding up to 30psi, than the trans holding up to 300hp.
Plus the trans is an easy replacement.......... well relatively.
I questioned the transmission as well. But, I have 1.4L turbo Cruze, with an auto. Not sure if the Sonic and Cruze use the same transmissions. I can't see why not.
Do you have an automatic or manual? I haven't had a chance to read through the entire thread.
Also, the bottom end would be my concern as well. The crank is cast and not forged. Having an 86 Buick Grand National, I have learned all other things being equal the cast crank is the weakest link when making big power
Although the crank did look pretty beefy and the engine essentially has a girdle. Does the bottom end use a stud or bolt and do you think the stock bolt/stud will hold up or are you considering looking into using an ARP stud if available to bolt up the bottom end?
The stock bottom end can take a little more then 300 with out issue the biggest issue I see is getting product support from the UK here pistons rods and bolts are on the market already just not state side
Also preloader as since stopped his build
I have you seen this engine make 300 hp or do you access to data of others who have?
Walker is already knocking on the door of 300hp with his last dyno. Once he installs the BAP should be over it
My cruze was near it at one point based on a few runs with a 320hp TSX before removing the nano kit now I'm in the process of a progressive turbo set up without the nano. The biggest issue is valve float for the 1.4

What is a nano kit?
Nice. 300+ whp with this car or the Cruze is pretty awesome. Not sure I will ever make such an endevour, but it is nice to know. My toy in a 1986 Buick Regal Grand National. Getting ready to build a motor that can make 600wrhp.
NANO is Nitrous Kit I used it with custom jets.
Had a T-type on 22s ran mid 11s good engines
Nice how big was the shot?
A true 80shot
