I just recently purchased my sonic. However, when I was looking for a sonic a little over a month ago, the dealership I bought mine at had a 2012 1.8 5 speed with almost 160k. I looked at it because they were only asking like $7000 for it, and I thought it was a great deal until I saw the mileage! It did make me confident that my sonic purchase would last a while (hopefully!) I've only got 22,000 miles on mine right now!

$7000 with 160K?? Sheesh, I should sell mine with 121K then. I'd break even at this point which is fine with me.

98k on my 2012 sonic 1.8. No issues other than the intake boot failing, and a thermostat replacement

Anyone here with high miles had to replace their 6-speed trans more than once? My first one was replaced at about 45k miles, and as I'm rapidly approaching 100k, I can only suspect I will need another one soon.

I had mine replaced at 55,000 miles, seems fine so far at 60k miles.

Im over 85K miles, have been tuned since about 300 miles, and can't say that I have had any problems I can attribute to the tune.

Seems to me that replacing the turbo is a common repair.It appears that after doing some research that purchasing the 1.8 is a no brainer long term?

I'm almost at 45,000 miles. I've had all the major repairs: 6 speed replaced, turbo replaced, intake manifold (i'm pretty sure that's what it was, i forget!) replaced, sway bar end links replaced twice, a ball joint replaced. At least all of mine have been covered by warranty, and my dealership has been great about giving me a loaner when my car has been down.

105,800 miles- 2012 sedan LT 6 cyl 1.8 L automatic- no major repairs, bought with 94,000 miles on in January 2015. new tires, recall for cracked heater cord, just some minor problems with the rear windows rolling up.

OK I have a 2012 Sonic LT 4dr sedan 1.4 turbo automatic. I drive it in my courier job. Formerly delivering RX to nursing homes and now delivering auto repair parts to repair shops. I just turned 230,000 miles last week. She is bone stock. I just changed my oil filter again at 245,000. Starting to throw P0299 in last 15k miles. I can not find any DIY for replacing the turbo. I can not afford an aftermarket turbo nor afford to pay some one else to replace it. It is up to me so if anybody knows somebody that has done this I am all ears. Thanks!!
