Brand new LS sedan doing 20 City MPG
I have an automatic with 200 miles on it with a 1.8L engine and I'm currently driving about 10 miles per day at a speed of 30-40 MPG in the city. Couldn't believe yesterday when for the first time I checked my average MPG: 20.1 That's quite a disappointment. Other than that I'm content with it.

From what i've read, that seems a little low for highway, even with the 1.8. How fast are you driving? Maybe i've got a little granny in my foot.

when i'm doing like 90 if i reset the dic mpg, it runs at 19 or 20

Actually guys when i posted about getting 27 average MPG, i hadnt reset my average readout once. so that was the average for the life of the car. now that i reset it im averaging in the 30's on the highway. sometimes higher if i drive like a prius.

Low mpg
I'm driving between 30 to 45 in the city. I'm also using the A/C regularly now in the Spring/Summer (I live in Florida), although I use at low to medium settings. That may have something to do with it.

20 mpg is certainly a harsh number to live with in a new economy car. I don't do much city driving (yet) but I expect I will be taking a hit somewhere down the line. I suppose the thing about "city" driving is that everybody has their own definition of what constitutes "city" driving, and these are rarely aligned with the EPA testing, which I believe is geared more toward what i would consider "ideal" city driving conditions. Once you add in a few extra stoplights or some bumper-to-bumper, the mpg can drop pretty quickly. I have no idea what your commute is like, and I hope that your mileage improves as your engine gets broken in.

I noticed mine was pretty disapointing i was sitting around 24 mph city driving, but after about 1500 miles i was averaging 30.4 in the city. Guess i just had to break it in.

I am at 2,800+ miles, Injen Intake, Trifecta Tune (always on), and my average is in the low 30's. I do more city than highway per tank. If I drive economically I can hit avg of 33 - 34. Driving more aggressive I avg right around 30mpg. Not sure how much summer temps have to do with it but that too could be a factor. But I just changed my oil at 2,500 and have not noticed any difference yet.

My Sonic is at 2700 miles im currently getting 31.1 miles per gallon highway/city 70% highway.... I have an injen intake and run reg gas 87? in it
I was running mid grade and was at 34-36 miles per gallon...
