Eibach Lowering springs

The tires are the source of road noise and the Sonic OEM tires are designed to produce the least amount of road noise.

I get nervous when riding in an ultra quiet car. My OEM rim/tire package lasted 100 miles before I changed. I t would have been 5 miles but I got the Sonic Wednesday before Thanksgiving Thursday so I had to wait until Friday to make the change.

So theoretically the setup I have (stock 15" swapped for 17") will handle better than a sonic with the 17" wheels stock since the suspension is stiffer.

Would that be correct?

I suppose technically, but in a sense. Any change in the spring rate will change the ride height due to the rate of spring deflection. They also change the compression (bump) and deflection (rebound) ratings of the shocks. Too stiff of springs will also cause your car to be super reactive, which may cause instability in a straight line.

In the Sonic OEM suspension's case, you might see slightly better turn in.

Nice, did u swap out for the oem 17s or for an aftermarket set? I want a new set of wheels but can't decide on what to get, I like multi spoke euro style wheels, but I love the black 5 spoke oem wheels. Its a tough choice.

i have the factory 17". I went with Capitol UHP sport tires. 205/50/17R. there not as quite as the OEM tires but the performance is well worth the trade, just turn up your radio..

i'm not looking forward to winter time when i have to put my 15" wheels back on and use the OEM tires for winter. lol

Also for everybody else...I got a random question. The shock is the cylinder which the spring/coils go around correct? Or is that the strut? I know what I'm talking about but get those two words mixed up sorry...lol

I don't know too much about lowering a vehicle with springs/coils but I have a few questions. What is the purpose of lowering the front and rear a different length. Wouldn't you want to lower both the front and rear the same length or no? If so why? Thanks!

Not necessarily.
It changes the steering profile for one, and weight distribution for another.
(Although some do it just for looks.

Several reasons for unequal lowering, one of which is stance (the noun not the suspension parts maker) so the lowered car looks as if it is going twice as fast as the car parked next to it.

Another would be the best choice for steering and/or center of gravity.

A third would be related to how the unchanged suspension parts will be affected by the lowering coils.

A reason for lowering not related to the above is to get a firmer (more sport car like) ride, and it is convenient to use lowering coils to get that change. Not all are equally firm, some makers make lowering coils designed to maintain the OEM ride (I know, does not make sense to me, either) and some makers make them in different degrees of firmness.

Straightforwardly, it depends on the springs.
This is an area where the reputation of a brand counts.
At least, that is my opinion.

Higher spring rate, lower ride height... depends on how and where the stock dampners are valved. But I would expect the likes of H&R and Eibach to test their product to avoid part damage or dangerous suspension dynamics.

That said, if the stock struts are not built to perform at a lower height and increased spring rate it could force an aftermarket manufacturer to compromise their performance goals.

1. We dont charge any taxes unless you are from Minnesota.
2. It is a flat rate, does not matter where you have it shipped to.
3. As stated on the product page they fit BOTH the hatch and sedan.
4. Best to make seperate orders for other products, as those can ship now. You wont save anything by buying on the same order, as they ship in seperate packages.
5. Designed to work with the stock struts/shocks.
6. Not a problem.

Are there any official pics of lowered Sonic hatches on Eibach and H&R springs yet, I wanna see which has the best drop before I buy (very impatient to get this done cuz it'll look hella sick & i'm tired of looking at the big ugly wheel gaps already lol). I've lowered all my cars & this one will be no exception, but will there be other lowereing springs besides those two?
