I wouldn't wrap headers personally. It rusts and still even crack stainless. Getting wet and heat cycling (expanding and contracting) just isn't good for metal.

At first I was going to wrap mine, but decided on ceramic coating for previously mentioned reasons. If it was a race only car I might have looked into wrap, but this is my daily and I want things to last for many years.

I have a 700 mile round trip coming up and plan to run the stock tune there, then switch to the performance tune for the drive home. I still need to log the tune and have it checked, but want to wait til I finish off the exhaust to do so. I am really hoping to finally break the 45mpg mark, but two guys and 4-5 bowling balls, plus normal weekend stuff is going to hurt me on the way out there. Should be solo on the way back though.

I would load the stock tune, log it and have it looked at to make sure that it is running fine/safe with your mods, it would be bad to drive it 700 miles one way running wrong. Looking forward to the mileage difference though.

Good luck with 45 mpg goal! I've only hit 46 once and I haven't got over 40 since. But the performance tune will do that lol

Based on how "dumber" systems have handled changes, I feel I will be alright. I do not have the time needed to log and wait for an updated file before my trip. Besides, if the motor fails it will just be an excuse to start finding ways to upgrade it better.

A few weeks back when I still had the stock maniverter on I pulled off a 44.9 test run.

I have the header sitting in my garage, I'm contemplating coating and polishing options. Thinking I might get the header proper cerakote'd.

Clean build though, very nice.

They are about 15 miles from my house. You could always contact them and see if they are going to be there late some day.

I expected you to be more downriver area than Macomb. Not many people refer to this area as "South East Michigan".

Ah yea, never really know what to call it. Nobody knows where Macomb is. Not like if I said Taylor, or Ferndale, Southfield, Rochester, Westland... Etc. I always have to tell people it's just around Utica/Shelby/Sterling Heights.

So far with everything done I have improved my economy a little. Same trip as last year had a gain of just over 1 MPG this time around. From my memory I averaged 43.2 last year. This year I managed 44.48 with some bad economy driving on the way out.

Drive out was in rain and fairly warm temps. The A/C was in use for most of the drive for passenger comfort and keeping the windshield clear. AVeraged 42.9. Made the mistake of filling up there instead of seeing how far back home I could make it. $4.729/gallon. Chicago blows for the cost of everything.

Drive home involved some rain, about 2 hours of nasty wind, and half an hour in stop and go to cover a 3/4 mile section of road. No A/C use though. AVeraged 46.1.

Not exactly thrilled as Iwas hoping for better, but I did finally manage to break the 45 MPG mark that I have come close to a couple times before (44.8 and 44.9).

As of right now I have installed:

Injen intake

BNR header
DDM delete pipe with stock J body cat attached to it (temp fix for rasp control)
SLP cat back with Magnaflow resonator replacing the SLP part

Eibach lowering coils


Future plans include:

Full belly pan
some 16 or 17" lightweight wheels
partial grill filler plate (once I have a way of keeping track of cooling can cycling)
ZZP second cat
SPacers or adapters to get whatever wheels I use to be as close to flush as possible. (not for looks, but to keep some air out of the wheel wells)


I still need to look into logging the stock tune and also reinstalling and logging the performance tune.

Logged the stock tune and sent it in today. Per Trifecta I am fine to run the stock program and it makes a whole 141 hp/ 124 tq right now. Guess I need to put the power tune back in and log it as well.
