Buick Encore Brakes to Sonic

The calipers I bought were buy now or make offer. Did you make an offer or were you just eyeballing them?

No I never made an offer on the rears but I did on the fronts.

If you like headaches and having to start shopping for replacement parts within a year, get the ZZP junk. If you would prefer something that should last, do the RS swap.
well i just checked about the encore bolt pattern and indeed it's 5x105 mm
just like the chevy trax (same platform)

till now i only checked about the cruise deisel, and they were 5x115.
so i understand that the front caliper brackets are need to be changed, but i also understand the calipers are not the same.
i saw that the pads on the buick are bigger compare to the sonic.
they are same shape, but higher.

so what do you think?
we need also a caliper swap?

This is the oem part number for both the encore,volt,cruze gas/di and sonic
88877876 Oem GM and that's for the front pads not sure what's up with brembo

the question is if we need only to change the caliper brackets from the encore and the sonic calipers will fit the new brackets and in the distance allow the 300mm rotor instead of the 276 mm stock one.

This is the centric part number for the caliper.
CNI 141.62203: Front Right They have the same piston size

A couple of us will know for sure in a week or so if the Sonic calipers will work in the Encore caliper brackets.
Another part that we haven't talked about yet that we'll need are the splash shields. The larger diameter discs will extend past the Sonic's splash shields. You could probably get away without them but if you want to do the swap 100% right you'll need them.

Rotor thickness that's why it has differnt specs.. You can use both pads I use LS1 pads on c5 calipers And others use C5 pads
You will need to swap shields or just cut them off as I did since I didn't want to remove the hub

We will know for sure by the second week of march, i would think the caliper wont matter just the bracket because the pads are almost identical. It is usually the bracket now a days that dictates what pads for because that is where they mount.

If the pad is higher I don't think it will work... Plus the encore caliper might be made to take the extra force from the extra pad surface. Just a guess.

More accurately the pads extend a little lower, but only by 0.5" (the larger diameter rotors extra 1.0" divided by 2) and it looks like they were able to accomplish this by 'filling in' the curve on the bottom edge of the Sonic pads.
So the height of the pad where it fits to the caliper looks the same, the Encore pads rather than curving around the rotor hub like the Sonic are almost straight across, which is how they achieve the greater height.

I ordered the rotor and brackets online last night but didn't notice the pad difference until after I had placed the order. I'm heading out right now to pick up the Encore pads from the local auto part store, I'll see if they have Sonic and Encore pads and see if I can take a couple pics.

Local auto part store didn't have in stock. Looking at part numbers for the Encore pads and Cruze diesel pads on newgmparts, they are the same. I'm going to check with the Chevy dealer a few miles away and see if they stock the Cruze diesel pads and if they don't want my first born for the set I'll pick them up.
I looked at EBC brakes and they don't list an application for the Cruze diesel or Encore

Nobody has them in stock so looks like I'll be ordering them in.
Interestingly the Chevy dealer wants $160 for Cruze diesel pads, the Buick dealer wants $230 for Encore pads and the local auto part store wants $50 for Encore pads. Guess where I'll be ordering them from, mind you these are all for the exact same set of pads.
