Buick Encore Brakes to Sonic

This is pretty much spot on.

Lately I have had nothing but problems with the zzp kit and I am rather disappointed with it, but this is on par with my experience with zzp sadly.


As far as the front, I find no need to do a "big brake kit". My race pads have more then enough stopping power for what this car needs and with very little brake fade over time.

Just wondering what problems you have had with the ZZP kit? I too have the kit installed, can't say I've had any problems but also not entirely satisfied.

Pretty much everything.

Both parking brake cables have been replaced

Both calipers have been replaced

And now it needs pads and rotors after a year and a half of service.

Looks like someone, MPFab......., bought the last and only set of decently priced rear calipers on fleabay. I knew I should have jumped on them when I saw them...:sadbanana:

The good news if anyone is looking for front calipers with the brackets needed for the swap there are still a couple good deals left on fleabay. Just FYI.

My parts should be here Friday at some point so based on the tracking, we shall see! Right now it seems it's a race for the few of us who committed to trying the swap to get it on and post the results.:banana:

I thought all you need are the abutment brackets. Why buy a whole caliper?

My reasoning behind buying the caliper and bracket together is to have the calipers I'm getting powder coated and I can install them later so I don't have to have my car down for more than a few hours.

Also just for a spare set, you never know when you'll need one. I figured if I was going to pay fifty plus shipping for brackets and I got the calipers with hardware and brackets for a hundred shipped why the hell not, right.

I just picked up my rear swap calipers paid 75 each new rotors and pads $150 and the brakets $18 each. Now I just hope they all bolt on

it's still an enigma, we still don't know if the sonic caliper with the bracket alone will work with the encore rotors.

as far as i know, the pads are different, and maybe we in the end will need a caliper swap as well.

hopefully not.

The caliper has nothihg to do with rotor size.. But anyway did some more checking the encore caliper uses the same piston as the cruze and sonic which IMO makes it the same

Well my "buddy" at the parts store didn't order the pads for me like he said. I think I'm just going to order the ebc ones off fleabay then.

Rear brake lines from drum brakes won't work. Looks like there is a short rubber line needed to replace the hard line that plumbs into the wheel cylinder, or it's an all together different line. I intend on making some braided stainless lines for mine.

Ah ha! Maybe I WILL beat you after all! I've got the pads, the rotors should be here Saturday, the brackets look like they'll be here some time next week, the tracking for them isn't fully up yet.

Edit: I am kinda jealous that you'll have the EBC pads though!

if you end up making the braided lines could this be something you offer for sale on the site.......

You could run the RS rear lines, but my searching should same p#....
Something was obviously wrong with that info.
I'll have my calipers this week. I'll know better then.
