It's a FWD car, it already has massive front brake bias and a minor change in rotor diameter is not going to make that any different.

You could always add a manual portioning valve and do the math to figure out the correct bias.

Don't get me wrong, its B.A. that someone found a cheep way to steal parts from other GM products! But im a little concerned my little golf cart may tip over forward with 10% bigger brakes!

Sorry folks, been a busy year, new job, new baby, same sonic tho!!!
I'm still riding the same brakes have not had any issues whatsoever........ and I'm approaching 40k now.

IIRC weight transfers to the front initially, so we want better brakes up there, and then the weight transfers to the rear so the brakes out back can have a slight delay and aren't as strong. A proportioning valve up front negates the effect of adding bigger brakes, they'd be less responsive.
Only logical solution is to upgrade the rear brakes too

Hey there, I was wondering where you've been! Sounds like you've got your hands full all right! Mine are still problem free too, well except the fronts are starting to pulse, I'm debating on replacing the rotors with factory GM items which have the zinc wash to keep em purdy longer.

Camaro SS Brake swap
Hey everyone, did some research after I saw this thread.
I ordered in Camaro SS calipers- brackets have the same mounting bolt location and width so they will BOLT RIGHT ON. Also, the Camaro uses an 11.8" rotor with that caliper. AND SO DOES THE ENCORE. I'm gonna have to figure out hydraulics, probably use the Camaro hose and re-thread my brake line.
but that's the ZZP kit basically for the front end.
Pictures and a write up will come soon:]

The parts came in- the encore rotors versus Camaro rotors are noticeably thinner. My mock up sits perfect except for the gap between the pads to rotor- roughly a quarter inch with the pistons fully retracted. I'm contacting my manufacturer (I have an FMSI book as we manufacture pads and I have the plate number, just needs to be roughly 1/16" thicker on each pad)

Ordered the pads and rotors. Hopefully I'll join the "big brake" club next weekend.

Did some research in my downtime-- unfortunately still haven't done the install, but it does not appear that you even have to switch hydraulic hoses for the swap- the Camaro ss hoses are shorter than the sonic (by 5"), so you'd have to make a steel line adapter. So, I'm grabbing a pair and some brake line as well to be prepared, but the sonic and Camaro hoses have the same inlet/outlet threads so it shouldn't be an issue.
Also, the banjo is the same diameter across the 2 models, but the pitch is
different, so I don't see any fitment issues on that either. But we will see:]

Look forward to seeing how it goes. I'm still hung up on wanting the rotors front and back to match in size. OCD I guess

Technically they already aren't the same size... Fronts are 10.8" and rears are 10.6" on the RS. It's very close, but TECHNICALLY not matching.
On my other car the difference in rotor size from front to back is huge (at least 3" diameter difference), so I am used to a size difference.

Not sure if you're still updating the list. I did this install, it was super easy and fit with ease for my 17" LTZ wheels with 20mm spacers.
