I like the Honda Fit and almost bought one. I think it looks nice and the interior was very roomy. The things that turned me off about the Fit after reviewing the Sonic is that it didn't come with a leather interior which I prefer. It is also is rated lower in terms of MPG compared to the 1.4L Turbo models. I think the sports package that you can buy with the Fit isn't worth the costs. And it's considerably higher in terms of price. At MSRP value, the Fit was about $1k more over my Hatchback LTZ with everything I wanted. There is also a rebate I get too from a USAA member and they kind of sold me which saves me another $750. That is the reason why I choose the Sonic.
Quick question. We talking about the 1.8L or 1.4L? Because there is no comparison between the Fit's engine compared to the 1.4L Turbo.
Because its 1) american 2) turbo 3) wayy nicer looking than a moms fit.

A "mom's" Fit? LOL!
I have a Fit Sport. Up and until this point, Hondas are far more dependable than anything GM/Chevy has put out in recent years. GM cars feel much more significant when it comes to a solid feel and interior build... but they do not have the dependability Hondas have. Let's hope, for GM's sake, that changes.
For the record however, I like GM offerings better in many ways.
Other than that, every Sonic I've seen from a distance -- when viewing it from either the side or rear -- I thought at first glance was a 2009+ model Fit Sport. In voicing your immediate bias, you forgot to open your eyes really wide in order to see likenesses to the Fit Sport GM designed into the new Aveo/Sonic. And rightly so... the Fit is the best selling sub-compact [world wide] now for 2 years in a row. The best all-around quality sub-compact 3 years in a row.
There are things I wish GM would have copied even more... things that continue to make me think twice about trading from my Fit Sport for a Sonic.
As far as actually trading, I'll post why I am going to do it in a post separate from this one.
Go to "FitFreak.net" and check out some of the Fit mods. The "Mom's ride" issue goes right out of the window. And like I said, the Sonic, except for the front grille, looks so much like the Fit one can tell GM definitely copied Honda... that is if the person doing the looking actually wants to acknowledge that fact.

mpg's....well, there are epa estimates, then there is real world. as a fit owner, you already know that the fit (and hondas in general) along with toyota, have a long and documented history of handily beating epa estimates in the real world with their compacts and subcompacts. (fueleconomy.gov is a good source to confirm this).
