How to disable onstar

I personally feel its an invasion of my privacy. If all they did was assist you then I wouldn't be as paranoid but when I keep getting calls from them trying to tele market their services and after reading the privacy policy...no thanks. I posted a link to the policy earlier in the thread,give it a read it states they can sell your info to third parties as they wish. These third parties could include local law enforcement to assist in settin up speed traps, you insurance agent so they can monitor how you drive your car and basically anyone else they want to. If you do a google search you can find the stories about onstar selling your car info for speed traps but I haven't heard anything on the insurance agents yet. Just a matter of time though before they get smart.

To everyone else that assisted me in this thread thank you I plan on doing another post with pics on how to remove the onstar antenna once I get a spare minute between work and college.

Where are these pics already?
I can't put something in a faraday box if I don't know what it looks like....

Not me personally. I write mostly simulation software. I did an x-ray delivery system though with a very small and focused beam when I did medical device software. That machine was for treating boobies, which is cool. :banana:

They get everything we can get with an UltraGauge and much, much more.
Soon, if not already, they'll be selling speed/GPS data to police agencies to help them better target their speed trap areas.

If everyone decides to be completely dismissive they'll one day convince some lobbyists and state congress people to pass laws allowing them to ticket you for speeding without any help from an actual officer.

"Dear sir, you were recorded as starting your journey at 'X' time, then paying a toll in the same vehicle 'Y' minutes later, making your average speed 92mph. Your top speed during this time was 98mph - Please mail your fine to 'z', your license is suspended for 6 months. Thank you."

Before you take that^ as paranoia, there are already state toll roads that do that and have for years.
Just think of it as an extension of the program. Disagree? You can't, you let us to it to the toll road.

They already do it on some turnpikes too, which is why many travelers take a pit stop in the middle to bring the average back down.
(Have to eat anyway, right?)

But imagine them taking it the step further, cars starts and hits over 5mph starting the trip, you pull in somewhere hours later and when the key turns off it says "Car started here @ x, stopped here @y taking z route, avg speed = 72mph state max = 55mph, issue ticket."

Or worse, they could narrow it by highway section.

Worst case scenario? Sure. Would it be the first, second, tenth time the worst case scenario went down? Not even close.

I-80 thru indiana or ohio (or both haven't driven it in 4 years) would have times on a card of when you went thru 1st toll and I always assumed it was for that very reason, I never got any citations for driving the "speed limit" but I'm pretty sure I always stopped atleast once.
