    Exhaust manifold smoke

Gasket or more likely the "flex" pipe has rusted out and now leaking. Take it to and exhaust shop and ask to have a welded in.

    Drilling

Probably. However, as long as you use an appropriate body filler putty around any wires(?) you pass through it to keep water, exhaust gas, etc out. It also would be best to drill it a bit larger and use a rubber or plastic grommet to run wires through so sharp edges do not cut into wires, etc.

Why won't my cooling fan come on??

Wow. . Thanks! Can you show a picture or details of where the resistor is located? Also, part number?

    2015 SONIC CODE P0420

Great job in trouble shooting and using the shop vac to find it. Thank you for this post and updates ! This is now a good resource for those with future similar issues ! At least . . . . if people would actually take the time to read ALL in a thread or even posts that resolved the issue as you did.

2014 Chevy Sonic AC button problems

Perhaps the thin cable has slipped off or broken on the knobs that control the temperature and air flow. this link might help to check if the thin cable slipped off the control knob pulley. Read through thoroughly - - - https://www.sonicownersforum.com/forum/threads/broken-hvac-control-knob.22460/

    1.8l Intake Vacuum leak

Before replacing more parts . . maybe check to make sure the parts got seated correctly and no missing or torn gaskets. They can look ok . . but I would remove the Intake Manifold Runner Control Motor and vapor canister purge valve and see if things are ok. On one Sonic I worked on, the...

    1.8l Intake Vacuum leak

I can snap a picture or two. But the second picture is pretty blurry and maybe one just a tad bit further away from that location so I can see where I need to take the picture.

    1.8l Intake Vacuum leak

Check your work and for broken plastic tubes or hoses near that throttle body. Those plastic parts get brittle with age and can break easily just by bumping them while doing other work under the hood. There should be no openings with vacuum near the throttle body. If there is, temporarily plug...

2013 1.8L LT intermittent smoking and loss of power

Wondering how long the PCV issues existed? It does look like a fair amount of oil must have been getting ingested into the throttle body and cylinders. The spark plugs look pretty dirty for just 6,000 miles of run time. I can;t remember. . . have you inspected the intake tube and throttle body...

Will a 2013 Sonic timing belt last for 141,000 miles?

The sad reality is that if you trade it in to a dealer or reseller used car lot. . . .. they are NOT likely to spend the time and money to replace the timing belt nor inform a potential buyer that it needs to be done before driving it much. Or the engine will be blown and that customer will be...

2013 1.8L LT intermittent smoking and loss of power

Isn't that all 1.4L engine stuff at crusekits? OP has a 1.8L engine.

    Steering wheel buttons responding incorrectly

Probably not a fuse, but may be something as unrelated as the main battery or loose connection to the radio behind the dash or at the fuse box. Check maybe the fuse box(es) and make sure all are tight and no corrosion. Also, check the battery voltage right after start. If it reads less than 11...

    Motor Mounts

Just look up the motor mounts after entering in your VIN at a few GM parts websites. You should come up with a consensus of part numbers. AS long as you have the 1.8L engine that this thread is about. Not the 1.4L engine.

    Thumb switch replacement

Then the only other alternative is to perhaps, use the parts from the new shift lever and replace them into your shift lever? There are at least two videos showing how to do that.

    Thumb switch replacement

This may help .. Same as the Chevy Cruze I think .. althugh you may have to be careful of attached wires for the manual +/- buttons.

    New to sonic

On my 2017 Sonic 1.8L a K&N cold air intake really did nothing for any added performance. The Best I can recommend is a better set of sport handling tires and maybe a Pedal commander for seat of your pants improvement. The 1.8L engine is designed well and about all that is reasonably capable...
