The Fallen - 2012 Sonic LT2 Sedan Build Thread!

Parts Been Ordered, Awaiting Arrival to Install
I had to order some new parts for the sonic. Being such a new car, most of the parts for the sonic are not readily available. especially the ones i damaged.
I had to order a new Oil Pan, The front and rear gasket to the flex pipe section of the exhaust as that has to come out in order to remove the oil pan from the car. Then i also had to order a new Gas tank shield as i cracked it also. The shield prevented any damage to the gas tank. which would have been bad had it struck that.
So right now, im simply awaiting for the company to ship the parts to me so i can have the mechanic i selected put them in and get my sonic running again. simply a waiting game. Did not go thru my insurance, was able to source the parts for next to nothing and found a mechanic that does work on the side at his house out of his garage that agreed to install the new parts. 30 yr ASE mechanic.
So once i know more and can say its alive and running again i will post an update.

Parts are finally on their way to me and should have them by friday or saturday according to the tracking label i was sent. So im hoping to have my car back to me by mid week next week if all goes well and correct. *Cross's Fingers* opcorn:

Finally got the parts i needed to fix my sonic! So now i just got to get them to the mechanic to get it fixed and hopefully have my sonic back to me by tuesday the latest! All depends how soon and fast he can get to my sonic since its been over a week since he said he would work on it. may have started a different project by now. will know soon enough.

Got a call from the guy thats working on my sonic and he asked that i come out and check everything over with him before he starts it up to see how it runs. So i will know here soon how i made out with that accident i got into. will update once i know more....... opcorn:

Sonics Home!!!!
Finally got my sonic home and its running great. no signs of problems at all. it started right up, ran good and hasnt made any bad sounds. no lights. nothing. all good. I got so lucky considering all that happened. so happy to have my sonic back. feels good! :banana:

The Car I Drove While My Sonic Was Fixed...
Here is a Picture of the car i drove while my sonic was being fixed for 2 weeks. My uncles baby, his 1992 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Custom. Custom built the way he wanted it. V8 Motor, Air ride suspension, leather interior, Digital Speedometer. Power everything. Sweet ride, spent $60 in fuel while i had it. that was babying the car too.
But im so happy to be back into my sonic again! now to change the air intake filter with the one i bought. that unifoam filter was filthy and wasnt gonna try and clean it. just bought a new filter. So far the sonic is running good. when i started it up i got out and listened to the exhaust for anything abnormal from how i knew it sounded before hand. Nothing showed any signs of difference.
Even popped the hood and listened to it to see if it had any off sounding sounds and nothing came about while i listened to it. will be keeping a very close eye on this car for a while to make sure nothing arises. Will be doing a checkup on it after driving it a little bit to double check that everything is alright. but for now, its home, running, and not causing any issues! So Happy!

**UPDATE** Changed Air Filter - Car Doing Great!
Decided when i did the other stuff to change the Air Filter also on my sonic. Bought the AEM Dry Flow Filter (Brute Force Part#21-202BF) and my sonic LOVES it!
Its been doing great since i changed that air filter along with the new parts that got installed. To be honest. i think my sonic is running far better NOW than it did BEFORE it happened! It takes off like a bat out of hell. Barely touch the gas and it goes. doesnt take forever to get up to speed now and shifts on time.
Barely revs up compared to before thus saving a bunch on gas and making for nice mpg averages now from it! the week before i drove the **** out of my car, only dropped 3 bars of gas from it thru a whole week of city driving.
This week only another 3 bars thus far. im loving how my sonic has taken to the new parts and is behaving so well now. who would have thought after doing what i did, that this dang thing would perform BETTER than it did before it happened!? Makes no sense to me, but i'll surely take it lol. :banana:

tried to make a video of the exhaust and intake since the new parts been added to my sonic and for whatever stupid reason my damn GoPro will not operate for nothing. you turn it on like any other time, hit the record button and within 15 secs it shuts right off. wont record nothing.
Its fully charged, havent touched the settings on it any. flat out will not stay in recording mode once you start the recording. keeps stopping the feed before you can do anything. ive never had this issue before.
$300 peice of sh!t is what it is!! i havent enjoyed this unit since i bought it. been nothing but a money pit. just going to go out and buy a damn HD Camcorder that will function properly and add a fancy mic to it instead. Screw the GoPro! im done messing with it. To those of you who have use it problem free, glad its worked for you. but the one i bought is junk! has been since day 1.

after doing what i did to my sonic back in december. ive decided im not going to be doing anything further to the car. if anything, i may just get rid of it. ive been eyeballing some other vehicles as of late and if i can figure a way to swing doing so, i just may be trading in the sonic for something else in the near future to future. Its been fun driving the sonic, no real complaints other than i just feel the 1.8 just isnt the time and money ive put into it. ive had my fun with it. think its time now to move on to something else.
After working so hard to get, and have installed that body kit, only to later in the year a few months into having it, pretty much ruin it after the money i dropped and many others into it. ive just lost all interest in doing anything further with the sonic. the cost of the upgrades just dont warrent the time and hassel involved anymore for me. Id rather just get something i can drive and not mess with other than maybe a performance muffler as i just cant drive a whisper quiet vehicle.
One vehicle on my radar and in the running for possibles is the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 4x4 Truck. Had a truck back in 2009 and i am missing the fun of having one. hauling, cargo room, the feel of driving a truck. and with the new features and style of the colorado, its really grabbed my attention. like i said, the sonics been a nice car to drive. been a blast, but i think its time to start investing in getting something else. 2012 Sedan thats been good to me. That spark that drew me to my sonic is slowly but surely fizzeling away.

Decided to play around with the photo edit program and take some snow pictures. Im going to hold onto the sonic for the moment. its starting to run better now and as long as its running fine im not going to trade it in.
If it starts showing significant signs of "uh oh" then its going bye bye. But til then, im gonna enjoy it while i have it. may be one of those things that if i did get rid of it, i would just trade in for a turbo sonic. and transfer alot of the stuff to the new one.
But enough of that, Enjoy the Pictures!!

I had a body shop paint and install the kit for me. I went to several shops to get price quotes and i can say it all depends on the shop and what they will charge. each one was different. the one i found did excellent work and a very nice paint job and install for a price of $600.00 even. The other shops i checked out, wanted a crazy amount of $900-$1,200.00 to do the same task.
So if you were interested in getting the kit for your sonic, shop around for prices before investing in one place. you just may find a shop that does the same if not better quality work for a much lower price. The kit itself was $630.00 Shipped Primed and Ready for painting. it can be painted by them before shipped, but will cost of course. i myself didnt have the cash at the time to have it painted ahead of time. So all together i paid $1,230.00 for the kit and have it painted and installed.
Its held up great and have had zero issues with the install. im very happy with it. its grabbed alot of attention in my town since installed.

here is a picture of my sonic in the snow we just got. and will be getting more later today. currently im at a standstill for upgrading my sonic. hense why i havent been posting much to my build thread and such. I have a ton of ideas and things i want to do. just cant seem to catch a break anywhere to get the funds to do the projects i want to do.
On my list of things to be done eventually are the some of the following but not everything i want to do includes:
LED Bulbs all around (Front turn signals, Rear turn signals, and back up)
HALO Projector Headlight Assembly
HID Bulb Conversion
WeatherTech Wind Deflectors for the windows
as for the exterior thats about it i would like to do minus a few small things...
And the interior, thats a different story:
Eventually get all seats re-upolstered to a black and white theme, black outer, and white center with oposite color stitching depending which peice its on (White stitch on black, and black stitch on white).
Have the interior plastic peices color changed to black and white theme
Sport pedals and new floor mats
and much more... But the interior is something that will only happen if i was to ever hit big on something. to which i dont ever forsee happening.
Thats where my sonic sits for now. those are some of my ideas i want to do to my sonic. Eventually and some day.opcorn:

Hey everyone! just wanted to do an update and say THANK YOU to all of those that have followed my 2012 Summit White Sonic Build since ive started. I have been doing some serious thinking and im going next wednesday to see what my odds and chances are of trading in my 2012 Chevy Sonic LT Sedan 1.8L and purchasing a brand new 2015 Chevrolet Sonic LT Sedan 1.4L Turbo!
Figured since my warranty is about dead on the 1.8, i dont forsee myself doing any further performance mods to the 1.8L and i just dont see myself doing anything further cosmetically with the 1.8 either. 3 years of owning it has been fun but im finding myself loosing intrest in it lately. dont have that overburst of energy to be in it like i did before.
So with low miles on the 2012, 22,775 miles in 3 years. And a warranty basically dead on it, figured now is the time to trade it in before i do anything else to it and have as much as i can swapped to the new sonic from the current and have minimal to redo after the purchase. tint, stripes, intake, and exhaust wont cost alot to have done. Gonna try and get the bodykit transfered over, wheels&tires, Tail light bulbs, and Stereo i added.
That would be a nice start to a new build. Im gonna try and go for a Dragon Green Metallic Color. Excited to see if it would be feasable to make the trade and come out not having to pay any higher than i am now a month or lower. lower would be nice. currently owe $10,337 yet on the 2012. with only 22,775 miles on it that should help in the trade discount.
I go next wednesday to see if i say goodbye to The Fallen and hello to my new sonic, a Turbo Charged Dragon Green Metallic Sonic. Will update when i know more if this will even happen or not.opcorn:
