Polar PRO - Pro Mic For GoPro Camera's

Just Bought this new Polar PRO Pro Mic for my GoPro Hero3 Camera so i can start recording videos with higher quality sound capture. Hoping to make some new videos soon with this item to see how it sounds.

Took the sonic out for a quick 0-75mph run to see how it would run and sound plus i hadnt taken the car out and really gotten into it in a long while so it needed it. Pretty sure i cleaned out the car when i laid into it lol.

Well, i just dont know what to say. i have no one to blame but myself on this one and it just flat out sucks. I likely killed the engine in my sonic. how you ask? Decided to go out for the night to a town 2 hours away from me to watch a high school football playoff game. Not knowing the town it was in and how to get around it. i got lost once in town.

Went to turn around in this lot and within 5ft of being in the lot apparently it had been seperated with parking stones but with it being poorly lit and a slight incline leading into the lot, it was too late before i noticed the stones were there and over the stone i went, THUMP, THUMP.

Ended up finding the stadium, parked and watched the game. when i came out, thats when i discovered the damage that had been done. i started the car to leave and instantly lights galore started coming on. First the oil pressure light then the check engine light. As soon as i saw those lights i instantly shut the engine off to try and save whatever i could. but i have feeling the damage is already done and its killed.

So thankfully i had an awsome uncle that drove the 2 hours to trailer me back home after my insurance company was WORTHLESS. I havent looked underneathe yet to see what has been done but i have a feeling its not good. Will be addressing the issue as soon as business's open up tomorrow.

Im just speachless right now. numb. in disbelief it happened. it happened so fast. I really regret going out now. should have just stayed home. Now im without a car. :sadbanana:

That does suck. Sometimes sh¡t just happens. Thats what insurance is for. For when sh¡t happens.

It sounds like you may have cracked your engine oil pan. If that's the case, and you shut it off early enough..... an engine running on minimal oil and hardly any load is NOT likely to be damaged if you shut it off before the temps climbed too high.

If you have comprehensive insurance, you should be covered for whatever the damage is, but it may be as simple as an oil pan. Let us know how it turns out.

ok i know of an ASE Certified mechanic that does stuff on the side at his house. so i took my sonic out to him to scan it over and give me a good idea what i did damage wise.

He said describing what i did and what i did to prevent damage he doesnt feel i hurt the engine any. But i did indeed do damage to the oil pan. he said until the plastic cover under the car is fully removed he wouldnt be able to tell for sure if anything further was done.

But he said i would for sure without doubt need a new oil pan. Now, my question to the masses is this, what kind of material is the oil pan in the 1.8 sonics? is it metal, aluminum, plastic?

If not too damaged, Would it be able to be repaired such as welded vs going out and buying a new one and dare i ask how much a new one would cost? Thanks for any and all information you can provide me.

I will greatly appreciate the assistance to get this repaired asap so i can have my car back.

It's aluminum, which needs to be absolutely CLEAN to be welded on. Which would require it be removed to perform the repairs. It would make more sense to replace the pan.

Do you not have insurance?

i do but i was trying to avoid going thru them if at all possible. how much for an oil pan? do you know off hand.

if i would go thru the dealership and get a genuine GM replacement part im likely looking at $150-200 for a new pan correct. Well, i guess im going to the insurance company tomorrow and watching my damn rate go thru the roof. I just dont have the funds right now to be paying for this kind of repair. gotta figure something out. i need my car. thanks for the information guys. this helps out with knowing what my options are now.

well that GM part direct so far is the cheapest route and still be GM Genuine parts. Still, $70 i dont have available. guess i figure something out quick. i need to get that car repaired and on the road again. always a challange for me to overcome. thanks guys, much appreciated!

Insurance shouldn't go "through the roof" for a $500 repair. Talk to your agent and explain your concern about your rate going up. It's not as if you damaged or injured someone else, so in their eyes, you haven't become a high-risk liability. If they intend to penalize you for being human, you should threaten to take your business elsewhere.

I don't know if the 1.8 pan is similar to the 1.4, but it's likely about 3-4 hours of labor to replace.

Unless you have a zero or $100 deductible, I really don't see how reporting to insurance benefits you any? Am I missing something?

How's the body kit, scratched but OK?

The point of turning it over to insurance is that his car will be back on the road quickest, and he'll have more time to pay the deductible. If he takes it to the dealer and chooses to foot the bill, he will have to shell out the $500 (at the least) before they release his car.

It's not the only option, but seems most prudent given the situation IMO.

The Body kit is least of my worrys right now but its scratched to hell underneath each peice. side skirts mainly. bent the two skirts at a the mounthing points in the rear portion, but can be easily re-attatched at the mounting points.

As for the other, deductable is $250 comprehensive. labor is going to be the major factor in this repair. its looking like the parts and new oil and filter will be low end cost. Im going tomorrow to talk to my insurance agent and seeing what my options are.

Will update when i know more. I go thru State Farm. known for raising your bill for the stupidest of things. they've done it to my brother on many occasions when he has had to report things when had something happen to his previous cars. But seeing how this was a complete "**** Happens" out of the blue accident and no one was hurt as mentioned, i dont see why it would go up but as i said, its state farm.

GMPartsDirect dot com for an oil pan for an automatic transmission is $61.85 + Warranty at $9.xx and shipping it will be around $70-80 shipped. Then oil, filter, and labor, id say around $300-400 total to have it repaired. have a ASE Certified mechanic that will install it at his house for me to cut costs. Just need to get the parts. but labor still will be around $100-150.

Change of plans. My step-father has stepped up and said he can take my car to his buddys house and pull out the oil pan and take it into his workplace that specializes in repairing metal and aluminum type parts and repair the original pan so i dont have to go out and buy a new one. Thus saving me a ton of money on both labor and parts. will just have to cover the cost of new oil and filter.

Will update once i know more and have had the car up on the lift to see if anything further other than the oil pan needs replaced. so far its just the oil pan thats obviously seen. until the plastic cover is removed cant tell if anything else got damaged. Will update soon..... opcorn:

Body Kit Banged up good!

Body kit took a hell of a beating from this accident. Will need major repairing and repainting. That will be the last of my worries at this point. :sadbanana:

First i have to make sure the engine didnt get damaged and will run fine after rebuilding the oil pan. But here are some photos to show what happened to the kit. Sorry everyone who helped me get this kit. this is not what i had in mind after having it done. Never expected to do this to it.
